Yandex.Catalog Gives Answers to User Questions
Internet, December 14, 2009. Yandex has updated its Catalog. In addition to thematic links sorted into categories, the service now provides its users with relevant content from other Yandex services. Now, web users can see not only category listed links, but also get an answer to their questions about studies, sports, entertainment and other exciting things.
So, the Entertainment category shows links to the most popular entertainment websites, as well as movie showtimes, tv programs, culture news, interesting pictures and videos. Some categories will also have the link to the most currently popular and relevant website displayed on top of all other links in this category. For instance, right now the website that is highlighted and listed first in the Culture category is the website of the Chekhov Theater Festival.
Finding a website in Yandex.Catalog is now easier and faster, as there is both a description and a snapshot of the website next to each link. Looking at the main page snapshot, the user can tell right away if this is the website they are looking for.
Yandex.Catalog was launched in 2000. The Russian and Ukrainian versions of the service currently include more than 98,000 websites.
