Lavrynovych & Partners among Ukraine’s Top 10 Law Firms again

Lavrynovych & Partners has been rated seventh on the list of "50 Leading Ukrainian Law Firms" and has moved up two points in the ranking compared with the previous year. This is reflected in the results of the 15th Annual Survey "50 Leading Ukrainian Law Firms 2011" by the Yuridicheskaya Praktika and Kommersant-Ukrayina newspapers published on December 6.

The Firm's operations have been highly praised by researchers and peers alike: according to the results of voting by the country's law firms, Lavrynovych & Partners is among the Top-5 law firms in the field of restructuring and bankruptcy. Stanislav Skrypnyck (Restructuring and Bankruptcy) and Iryna Marushko (Corporate Law), Partners of the Firm, have earned high praise from their colleagues. In the general Ranking of Recognition by peer law firms, Lavrynovych & Partners has been placed seventh again.

For the second consecutive year, Lavrynovych & Partners has held a leading position in the ranking of major public disputes in the field of taxation. In 2011, the dispute of Public Joint Stock Company "ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih", the Firm's client, in a case related to VAT refund in the amount of $112 million, was the biggest in the country. Among the 25 biggest disputes in the field of taxation, three tax cases were handled by the Firm. Another four litigation cases handled by the Firm have been included in the list of the 50 biggest litigation and arbitration cases of the year.

The 50 Leading Ukrainian Law Firms survey has been published by the Yuridicheskaya Praktika newspaper since 1997 and is the only independent ranking publication in the legal services market of Ukraine. The survey is made up of a ranking by income, a ranking by the number of lawyers, a ranking by cost effectiveness, a ranking of recognition by peers and a summarized Top-50 ranking incorporating the above indicators. The survey also monitors deals/court cases in the preceding 12 month, such as the biggest public cases, the biggest public antimonopoly cases, the biggest public tax cases and the biggest litigation and arbitration cases.
