Yandex Updated Image Search Algorithm
Internet, September 17, 2007. Now, the new version of Yandex.Images finds 1.5 times more pictures. The new improved algorithm makes it possible to analyze web pages better and retrieves more information about images.
Image search options also expanded. Now, a user can search only for color pictures, or, only for black-and-white pictures, or for desktop wallpapers.
"Because of the new algorithm, we considerably increased the size of our search database, and now we can update it even more often," says Dmitry Belyaev, a search engine project manager at Yandex. "It is crucial that we managed to increase completeness of retrieval without losing its relevancy".
Every day more than half a million people use image search entering around two million search queries.
