Company Search on Mobile Yandex.Maps
Internet, October 14, 2009. Mobile Yandex.Maps can now find a company or a business by name or by industry.
Company search is available for users in more than a hundred cities in Russia and in Ukraine’s capital, Kiev.
Now, mobile device owners can use mobile Yandex.Maps to find all kinds of establishments, such as a McDonald’s restaurant or a swimming pool, and even call there, as the maps also show phone numbers. The application will first offer the objects within the displayed map area. To find the nearest objects, the user only has to choose the area and enter a search word.
In response to user queries that may refer to either a geographic object or a company name, Yandex.Maps show both. So, for the search term [flowers], the users will find Flowers of Siberia Street (Novosibirsk) and the village Flowers in the Addresses tab, while the Companies tab will have a list of flower shops.
The new version of the moblie application also offers a whole world map, exactly like the one available online. This map also includes detailed maps of cities in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
Mobile Yandex.Maps 3.01 is compatible with any device supporting Windows Mobile, Symbian or Java and is available for download here: http://mobile.yandex.ru/maps
