Yandex.Dictionaries Start Talking
Internet, June 30, 2009. Yandex.Dictionaries updated the latest version of ABBYY Lingvo Online Dictionary. In addition to word translations, the service now offers pronunciation samples by professional native speakers.
“A digital dictionary is more practical than a paper one, and a digital dictionary with a pronunciation guide is even better,” says Yandex.Dictionaries project manager Georgy Lebedev. “Foreign language learners no longer have to wrestle with how each word reads, and it’s much easier to remember the word if you both see how it spells and hear how it sounds.”
To help users check their listening comprehension skills, Yandex.Dictionaries now offers two audio tests.
Currently, Yandex.Dictionaries can speak English, French, German, Spanish and Ukrainian.
