5 October, 2007, МоскваYandex

Internet, October 5, 2007. Yandex announced today that it has launched a new initiative for educational institutions. Now, every school in Russia and CIS has an opportunity to make their own homepage at school.yandex.ru and to stream there their own news and events. Schools can subscribe to the service by sending an application to [email protected].

“There are always many important events at any school like olympiads and sporting events, teachers’ birthdays, changes in study plans or announcements on vaccinations. Starting today, Yandex allows schools to keep students and their parents up-to-date in regards to announcements and events that take place in their educational institutions,” says Roman Mikhaylov, manager of the Yandex School project. “The Yandex School project enables schools everywhere to use the internet, making their news easily accessible to students and parents.”

Some institutions as the School of Physics and Technology at Yoffe Physico-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Moscow high school № 415 already use the Yandex School service.

The Yandex School project was launched at the start of the 2007-2008 school year. In September, more than 100,000 visitors viewed the site. Yandex is continually updating the site based on feedback received on the form available online.
