Yandex.Bar for Firefox 2.0: User Comments and Traffic Jams

Any search engine that supports OpenSearch can now be easily included in the list of search tools. Beside that, the Bar now offers extra bookmark management options: bookmarks stored at Yandex.Zakladki can be added to the browser toolbar, edited, or opened in a new tab. The settings have become more flexible: you can select the Bar elements that you need and specify their behavior.

"In addition to using the Internet as a vast information storage, the new Yandex.Bar helps perceive the Web as a social network where each user has access to the opinions of other people," comments project manager Alexander Bykov. "For example, when choosing an online store, the ‘Comments’ button will allow to see the opinions of bloggers about a particular shop. Likewise, when reading about a country in order to decide on a place for vacation, users can review the impressions of those who have already traveled there. All with a single click."

The first version of Yandex.Bar for Firefox was offered in August 2006. More than 50,000 people are regular users of the application today.
