VERNA has updated the IT infrastructure of JSC Kharkovoblenergo on the basis of Cisco equipment
VERNA has updated the IT infrastructure of JSC Kharkovoblenergo. The aim of the project is to increase the level of network safety and ensure uninterrupted execution of key business processes, among which the control over load distribution and management of settlements with consumers. A specific feature of the project is the integration of various technologies, services, types of equipment and data used in the enterprise. New Cisco equipment for the network core is mounted, set up and put under load in the mode of hot swapping without interrupting the operation of the enterprise. The introduced solution is covered by a five-year warranty.
Updating the network infrastructure of JSC Kharkovoblenergo has ensured a continuous and controllable data flow for production and managing services of the enterprise. In particular, a reliable data exchange on the state of payments from consumers, telemetry data on the power system parameters, running on-line data on all kinds of resources, data on financial planning and accounting is ensured.
VERNA has delivered, mounted, set up and started up the Cisco equipment, integrated it in the operating system of the enterprise. Due to modular architecture the used solution provides the necessary level of security, reliability and control. The implementation also makes it possible to change flexibly the network configuration depending on the changing needs in new equipment or services. The work on the network core updating was preceded by the audit of the network infrastructure and development of the plan of step-by-step migration of the network resources to the new equipment.
Eugene Nikolaev, Deputy Head of the Measurement Equipment Services of JSC kharkovoblenergo, has commented the tasks and results of the project: “We faced the problem of selecting a solution, which would allow us, on one hand, to build a safe and high-capacity network and, on the other hand, to lower the cost of implementation. As a result of this project implementation a reliable and well controllable network platform is built. The solution completely conforms to our requirements as to the network capacity and data transmission safety”.
The increase of the network core capacity and stability is achieved due to utilization of Cisco Catalyst series 4500 switch that combines data, voice and video flows. Cisco ISR 3845 router is used for coupling various data transmission media.
