VERNA announces the finishing of the work for modernization of the IT infrastructure of Nikolayev affiliate of the First Ukrainian International Bank (FUIB). Putting into operation the objects in the city of Nikolayev, VERNA finishes the three-year project of creation of the FUIB base infrastructure in 30 cities of Ukraine. Cable systems for 4800 users are mounted for 85 regional branches of the bank, all affiliates and branches are equipped with office, telecommunication and computer equipment. When fulfilling the project a set of measures was implemented for ensuring the continuity of banking services and lowering operation expenses. Apart from a significant scope, the project has a number of specific features and innovations sought-for under new economic conditions.

In particular, when creating the IT infrastructure of the FUIB branch infrastructure, VERNA has used the Server Based Computing (SBC) technology with the utilization of HP t5000 series thin clients with special-purpose software for remote administration. Such solution has made it possible to create a safe, stable in operation and easily manageable architecture of the network. Thin clients in mobile version are also used for organizing remote work places of the FUIB Reserve Center.

Yuri Piskarev, Head of FUIB IT Administration, has pointed out the timely character of the implementation: “The cost of idling in the IT system nowadays is higher than before the crisis, because the price of consequences is higher. The client servicing must be uninterrupted. Any failures in rendering IT services today can work against the bank’s reputation. For example, we cannot afford delays in performing banking operations, crowded client service hall or dead time in the operation of the bank’s automatic teller machines. Therefore we require clear manageability of the servicing processes and equal manageability and reliability of the IT system that services the business. VERNA understands this; therefore ,when creating the FUIB branch network, they laid down and implemented correct solutions”.

The IT infrastructure of the FUIB retail network created in the course of the project makes it possible to cut down the expenses for its maintenance and management. Yuri Piskarev has named same articles of economy: “Remote administration makes it possible to optimize the number of the IT specialists of the bank by concentrating all administrative IT resources in the central office, but not in all districts of Ukraine. In this case a high degree of safety is ensured, as well as effective control over the access to the bank information in the scope of the entire framework”.

In the course of the project the VERNA specialists have carried out the work on mounting a structured cable system (SCS) in the FUIB affiliates and branches with the number of connections of more than 4800 ports. When creating work places, specific requirements as to ergonomics and design of interiors and work places have been taken into account. Functional work zones in modern premises have been created, including “open space” format. When laying down the networks solutions for cable systems with zonal architecture were used. In particular, service minicolumns and mounting racks were used in the Nikolayev affiliate, which have made it possible to lead in cables and connect the equipment in the FUIB offices with open planning. The implemented solutions make it possible to change the configuration of premises and work places flexibly and at low cost.

Yuri Piskarev has noted that the work of VERNA on implementation has not affected the everyday work of the FUIB affiliates. “Deployment of the SCS has not affected the bank business processes and quality of services. Under the conditions of uninterrupted work of the FUIB affiliate front offices, the server and commutation sites have been redeployed. The equipment has been installed and the networks have been laid down timely according to the agreed schedule” – has informed the Head of the bank IT Administration.

The works on creation of the FUIB affiliate network infrastructure have been carried out in the cities of Artemovsk, Berdyansk, Dneprodzerzhynsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk, Enakievo, Zaporozhe, Ilyichevsk, Kerch, Kiev, Kirovograd, Kramatorsk, Kremenchug, Krivoy Rog, Lugansk, Makeevka, Mariypol, Melitopol, Nikolayev, Odessa, Poltava, Sverdlovsk, Sevastopol, Severodonetsk, Simferopol, Sumy, Kharkov, Kherson, Energodar and Yalta.
