Internet, December 15, 2009. Yandex.Maps has added a new photo layer. Now users of the service can see photos from unusual locations, images of interesting buildings, cityscapes and landscapes from all over the world displayed on the map. Yandex.Maps gives its users an opportunity to travel to different cities and countries without leaving their home – see Venice, the Brooklyn Bridge or the Egyptian pyramids. All photos on Yandex.Maps are made by the users of the Yandex.Fotki service.

Now, Yandex.Maps can show not only Taganskaya street in Moscow, but also a monument to a stool right next to building 13 on this street.

Internet, July 16, 2009. The Yandex.Maps service now provides traffic maps for Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod and Rostov-on-Don. Drivers in these cities can now check road conditions before they leave home to save time avoiding traffic backups.

Internet, July 8, 2009. Yandex.Maps now offers its users an opportunity to view their routes (GPS tracks) on a computer and email them to others. Using the new functionality, people can share their walking or driving routes with friends.

Internet, December 1, 2008. The 1C-Bitrix company implemented a Yandex.Maps API-based component in their program products. Now the users of 1C-Bitrix Site Manager can embed Yandex.Maps on their websites through the Bitrix interface.

Internet, November 13, 2008. Yandex offers website developers Yandex.Maps API* (in Russian), a toolkit for creating their own map services. Any web site owner now can embed Yandex.Maps and use the new functionality at their own discretion.

Internet, June 26, 2008. Yandex completes the first phase of the Traffic 2.0 project, the company’s initiative to create user-generated traffic maps. Users can now track clear traffic in Moscow at the Yandex.Maps website. Starting today, drivers in dozens of cities across Russia and Ukraine start feeding and benefiting from live traffic information.

Now, Yandex offers metro map search for all cities on the Yandex.Maps service, which have a metro system. Users who enter an address in the search field of Yandex.Maps will see a view from space of their house, street, and other locations in the Northern Capital.

Now all Yandex.Maps options, like house and street search, traffic jams in Moscow, satellite view are accessible through mobile phones. Installing mobile maps is as easy as downloading a game or a ringtone: all you need to do is to enter http://m.ya.ru on your phone and to download the application.
