Internet, March 22, 2007. Yandex announces launch of mobile version of traffic jam map. Now the owners of Pocket PC can access current information about traffic on the roads of Moscow via ”traffic jams” bookmark at mobile Yandex.Maps, or via a separate link. The use of service is free of charge; data on traffic jams is being renewed every 5 minutes.

Internet, March 19, 2007. Yandex announces the start of a large-scale campaign to support talented young people. The project started yesterday with awarding the winners of the 70th Moscow Mathematical Olympiad in the Main Buidling at Moscow State University. All winners received Yandex signature T-shirts reading ”Ya — matematik” (”I am a mathematician”).

Internet, March 13, 2007. Yandex provides advertisers with a new tool to appraise site audience quality and measure conversion ratio for keyword advertising. Yandex.Direct now features a new instrument called Metrica.

Internet, March 5, 2007. Yandex opened a development office in Ekaterinburg. The branch is headed by Pavel Braslavski from the Web Search Department. This is the third regional office of Yandex: in September 2006, it opened a division in Saint Petersburg and a representative office in Ukraine a year before that.

Internet, February 27, 2007. Yandex begins collecting and publishing questions for the Internet conference of the First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on the site questions.yandex.ru.

Internet, February 22, 2007. Yandex has updated its Yandex.Goroda (Yandex Cities) project — the rating of cities with high Internet penetration. The number of participant cities has reached 50. The ranking criteria for the Internet use in the regions now include the activity of local bloggers.

Internet, February 12, 2007. Begun, Rambler, and Yandex assessed the volume of the context advertising market in the Russian Internet. According to analytical departments of the three companies, in 2006 context ad market turnover amounted to $110 million. This represents an increase of almost 2.5 times compared to 2005, when the turnover was $45 million.

Internet, February 12, 2007. Yandex Bar for Firefox is able to search for blog comments about a web page and can display traffic conditions in Moscow according to Yandex grades.<

MOSCOW, RUSSIA — February 7, 2007 — Yandex, Russia’s largest Internet portal and search engine, today announced preliminary financial results for the full-year 2006. Unaudited revenues for the year totaled $72 million, more than double 2005 revenues.

Internet, January 18, 2007. On the New Year's eve, the jury of Internet Mathematics 2007 announced the winners of the contest. Of 156 applications submitted for the competition, 31 projects were selected. According to the conditions of the contest, Yandex will finance half-year research projects of the winners for a total amount of RUB 5 million.

Internet, January 15, 2007. Starting today, LiveJournal paid accounts can be purchased using Yandex.Money. With the official agreement between SUP and the Yandex.Money payment system, the owners of LJ blogs now have a means of guaranteed instant paymentfor LiveJournal services.

Internet, December 19, 2006. Yandex helps to find advertised products and services online and know their exact location in the city. If Yandex.Direct advertisers specified the address of their stores or offices, with just one click the users can see them on Yandex.Maps.

Internet, December 15, 2006. Today, Yandex released a new version of Personal Search software designed to find messages, documents, and other files on the user’s personal computer and in the local network. Version 2.5 supports search over databases of TheBat! email client (in addition Outlook, Outlook Express, and Mozilla Thunderbird) and offers a pilot version of API to create add-ons enabling search over programs and files in various formats.

Internet, December 14, 2006. Online payment system Yandex.Money signed an agreement with Skype, a global IP-telephony system. From now on, users of Skype in Russia can add money to their accounts via Yandex.Money with no commission fee.

Moscow, December 8, 2006. The final round of Yandex Open Cup VII in Internet Search is over. Same as last year, Igor Makhaniok became “the Man Who Found Everything”. Now he is the first two-time holder of the title in history of the Cup.

Internet, December 6, 2006. A new version of Yandex.Postcards service is open for cooperation. From now on, any Yandex visitor can offer an original virtual postcard to millions of Internet users. For this purpose, Yandex.Postcards has a special partnership program.

Oslo, December 4, 2006. The first foreign-language Internet Search Cup under Yandex license is currently held in Norway. A new multilingual version of the Cup makes it possible to have Internet search competitions in any language. The partner is Kvasir, the oldest Norway’s search service, which undertook to translate the interface of the game and prepared the tasks. The final round of the contest, Norgesmesterskap i søk, will take place in Oslo on December 14.

Internet, November 28, 2006. The second round of Yandex Cup VII in Internet Search is finished. Nine contestants — from Russia, Belarus, and Switzerland — made it to the final. The names of the finalists and the results table for the second tour of the Cup are shown on this page.
