The most popular comments and the most extensively quoted personalities are featured on the main page of the service, giving the picture of the day with direct speech of the central characters. Following the press portraits, Quotations in the News is yet another implementation of fact extraction technology developed by Yandex.

Internet, September 28, 2006. Yandex announces changes in criteria for joining Yandex Advertising Network and invites new participants. All sites with daily audience exceeding 300 visitors will be able to display Yandex.Direct ads and make money from context advertising. The owners of sites that participate in Yandex Ad Network get half of the revenues generated by their ad spots.

Internet, September 27, 2006. We have the winners of Class-2006 contest held by Yandex. Eight authors of the best educational courses on information search will share RUB 1 million of the prize fund. In accordance with the rules of the competition, these materials will soon be made public, giving a possibility for teachers in all schools to use them free of charge.

Internet, September 6, 2006. Today, Yandex has opened a development office in Saint Petersburg. By year-end, dozens of programmers from the North capital of Russia will start working in Yandex. This is the second branch office of Yandex: exactly a year ago, the company announced the opening of a representative office in Ukraine.

Internet, July 7, 2006. An Internet conference of Vladimir Putin was held yesterday, June 6. The President of Russia answered some of the questions collected through the BBC Online and Yandex sites. Yandex users asked a total of more than 160,000 questions and gave more than a million votes. A complete transcript of the conference is published at the website president.yandex.ru.

Internet, June 30, 2006. Today Yandex begins collecting and publishing questions for the Internet conference of the President of the Russian Federation. The most popular questions will be passed on to Vladimir Putin during the Internet conference, which will be held on the 6th of July on the president.yandex.ru website. Questions for the head of state can be posted by any Internet user.

Moscow, April 25, 2006. The leading Russian Internet companies Mail.ru, Rambler, RBC, and Yandex announce creation of a professional industry Association. An initiative group composed of these companies staff will prepare the package of statutory documents to be later presented to the sector.

Internet, March 16 2006. Yandex net income in 2005 amounted to $13.6* million, with revenues of $35.6* million calculated in accordance with US GAAP (excluding VAT). This represents an almost two-fold increase over the previous year’s figures.
